A fan comment became a working stroller with automatic braking—conceived as a product gag, engineered as a real prototype.
In April, Volkswagen launched the “You Expect More When You Drive a Volkswagen” commercial.
In the advertisement, Volkswagen drivers hold the same high expectations for other products—even a stroller that does not automatically brake. One fan commented on Volkswagen’s Facebook page that a stroller with automatic braking was actually a great idea. Volkswagen agreed and immediately set its technical team to work. Well… team: just me.
The result was a fully working stroller with automatic braking, proximity sensing, and robotic engineering built into a campaign prototype.
